Low-poly, isometric version of the Giant's Causeway found in County Antrim, Ireland. It was caused by an ancient volcanic eruption.

Awesome stuff. I wonder why the pillars are all hexagonal though (in the real thing that is).

Thank you!
It's something to do with a volcano and the lava cooling down really quick but not sure why they are that shape. Quite fascinating. :)

Yeah I wouldn't expect some natural non-deterministic proecess to produce that shape (and crystals despite having regular geometry at the microscopic level don't have such regularity at the macroscopic level so this is really cool).

And oh, at first I thought that you'd made them all hexagonal for the sake of keeping it low poly but was surprised to see that they actually are all hexagonal.

It's definitely a wonder of the world. I feel like I should research it more to find a better answer as to why they are hexagonal. Nature does have a lot of patterns and fractal elements but this is rock and no natural erosion would have caused it either. There is a similar structure in Turkey - [link]. They have a slight wavy effect to them the higher they are. Fascinating stuff!

I would love to visit it one day.

Wow that's cool! I too would like to visit the place one day. It would be interesting to listen to what the locals will have to say about the patterns and the structure.
